After some time...

Wow, it has been quite a while since my last post. Among other things, I have been maintaining a new day job as a government pawn (in the public health sector), applying to a graduate program in music therapy (at Loyola University New Orleans, one of the first schools to offer an M.M.T. degree), playing in two bands - including Dongles, a wacky math rock duo - and practicing tabla as much as time allows. Seeing as these things have added up to a hectic life, I have regretfully been avoiding any blog posts (also in part because my current readership is at zero and seemingly approaching negative numbers).

But I want to get this up and running again. A few of my first posts were long, academically-inclined essays on world recordings. While I would like to add to those here and there, I also want to contribute my thoughts (as the subtitle of the blog implies) on all sorts of other 'sonorous matters.'

So, for now, here's a relatively brief list of recordings I could not live without (in no particular order):

The Who,
Who's Next

In some of the coming posts, I'll try to look at a few of these individually and discover why they are as meaningful - on both objective and personal levels - as they are.

For anyone in New Orleans, there is a combined Dongles & 3Brane show at the Outer Banks Bar on Palmyra St this Sunday (3/28/10) at 18:00.
